As an artist, all I ever want to do is make art. I don't want to have to deal with any of the issues, efforts, and distractions of having to sell my work or promote myself as a teacher and artist. That would include writing this blog. Which I have been very bad about in the past. Sorry about that.
Though I read about getting organized and listen to podcasts for ideas about marketing myself, I find myself wandering back over to my studio to make art. Realistically, one should be devoting 33% of their time to the business of being an artist in order to stay relevant in today's market. That means getting into social media and online marketing, reaching out to galleries, group shows and competitions, pricing, framing and cataloging artwork for sale. Yikes!
Forgive me if you do not see my work in galleries across the US. I am sorry that my website and blog get stagnant at times. I do try to post regularly on Instagram because it is easy to do. I will try to be better at all this. But really, I just want to make art!
